Here you go ladies - Granny Morris's recipe.
Grease an oval dish with marg. Spread half a dozen slices of bread with marg and cut into squares. Put the squares marg side up around the dish to line it. Sprinkle with raisins and then repaeat the bread layer marg side up again. Another sprinkling of raisins and then the final layer of bread. Pour over a thin custard (Bird's instant jar's are great for this) making sure you fill all the crevices and sprinkle with demerara sugar. Bake at gas 5 for about 30 minutes. Serve with cream, ice cream or whatever you fancy - absolutely scrumptious!

Ingredients: Serves 4 4/6 thin or medium sliced bread and butter 1 pint of milk 2 eggs 50g sultanas or raisins 50g currants 50g sugar Grated nutmeg
Cooking Instructions:
1. Grease a medium sized ovenproof dish (about 6-8"). 2. Butter the bread and then cut bread into triangles.
3. Cover the bottom of the dish with a layer of bread then a layer of fruit and sugar on top, then another layer of bread with more fruit and sugar, finishing with a final layer of bread.
4. Beat the eggs and milk together in a bowl.
5. Then pour the milk and eggs over the pudding.
6. Leave to stand for 10-20 minutes, until the eggs and the milk have soaked into the bread.
7. Sprinkle a little ground nutmeg and a dusting of sugar to make the top nice and crispy.
8. Cook for 50 minutes on gas mark 3 100c/200f.
This is another one I tried today but made it with banans and coconut instead of sultanas. Scrummy!
